'the wind beneath your wings'

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I use a range of therapeutic approaches & adapt my work to suit you as an individual. My priority is to offer a safe, supportive & non-judgemental space where you can talk openly at your pace. We will work together gently finding a way forward that feels right for you.

I am a foster carer, a teacher and have worked in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) for more than 25 years. Working in education, mental health, hospitals and in social care. I have always worked closely with families, carers, professionals, children and young people to promote wellbeing and advocacy for those who are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing.

I believe that feeling truly heard and understood can be life-changing. Using a variety of evidence-based techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, trauma informed practice, along with techniques to calm the nervous system, I support individuals to overcome negative thought patterns and behaviors that do not serve them. I work toward an holistic approach to mental health, addressing both the mind and body.

My work is shaped by extensive experience with individuals from diverse backgrounds, with difference and diversity at the core of my practice. I have volunteered with Cruse Bereavement Care for more than three years and have also worked across hospitals, school, and community-based support services.
Confidentiality is of upmost importance to me. Any testimonials shared have been carefully anonymised, with all identifying details removed to protect the privacy of those I have worked with.
I want to share how much of a difference Sharon has made to my life. She is the first therapist I’ve had who truly made things click for me. The way she explains things helped me understand myself in a way I never had before.
Sharon is incredibly caring and patient, and she has a real gift for explaining difficult emotions and experiences in a way that actually makes sense. For the first time, I was able to understand why I’m scared of so many things, rather than just feeling overwhelmed by them.
I'm at uni, its hard. I don't understand social relationships, when to laugh and I feel awkward. Its strange to me. Sharon's good, she's got the right energy. When she says it's confidential I believe her. I'm going out more and socialising, its easier now I'm more accepting of my autism.
The support you have provided for parents and staff at **** school has been invaluable. Your support has enabled staff to remain in work and parents to deal with their concerns in an environment that they feel comfortable with and knowing they can switch off, for this time dedicated is just for them.
Sharon is inclusive in her work & makes reasonable adjustments to offer a professional and therapeutically needed service for clients who have protective characteristics. She has understood her client's communication needs and the adjustments needed for each client who she treats as individuals and differentiates her approach to meet the relational need. Sharon is motivated to offer her clients an authentic and professional Counselling service.
Working with Sharon has supported my personal growth in a huge way. She helped me feel understood, validated, and capable of change. The impact of her work with me has been life-changing, and I’m deeply grateful for the difference she’s made.
